MIDI Capture
MIDI Capture allows you to capture cleaner pitch MIDI directly from within your DAW, minimising the need to clean up unintended notes and speeding up your workflow.
Adding the MIDI Capture plugin to your DAW
MIDI Capture is a separate plugin that works with any DAW that supports VST3 or Audio Units. You can find it as an instrument in your DAWs usual plugin list. For specific instructions on adding the MIDI Capture plugin in your DAW, follow the relevant Getting Started with your DAW article.
Connecting to Dubler 2
Once the plugin is added to a separate track in your DAW, it needs to connect to the Dubler 2 software, which can be opened directly from the plugin.
NOTE: The MIDI Capture plugin works as a companion to the Dubler app, and reflects changes and settings you have in your profile, such as key lock. MIDI Capture is simply recording and cleaning what you sing in the Dubler 2 app, Dubler is still what’s translating your voice to MIDI information, so it’s important to remember you have your mic set up and calibrated properly in Dubler.
A message confirming Dubler 2 and the VST are connected will appear in the bottom left of the app.
You can set up a separate track with any sound you want to control, and arm it to receive MIDI in real time from Dubler 2. The track containing MIDI capture does not need to be armed. All you need to do is press the spacebar to start recording with MIDI Capture.
You do not need to press record in your DAW, unless you also want to record your idea in real time as well.

Recording with the MIDI Capture Plugin
To record with MIDI Capture simply press the spacebar to start your DAW's transport. Whenever your DAW is playing, the MIDI Capture plugin will be recording.
Press spacebar to stop the DAW's transport and the saved clip will then be available at the bottom of the plugin.
NOTE: Recording will be prevented if you are in Auto Key Detect in the Dubler 2 app. In order to record you must first set a key in Dubler 2.

Getting your MIDI clip in your DAW
Click and drag to place the MIDI clip anywhere you like in your DAW :
NOTE: Depending on your DAW settings you may receive a message asking if you want to import the tempo or time signature of the clip. You can select No as MIDI Capture uses the BPM set in the DAW at the start of recording. This means the clip will always fit the timing of the project.
Key Suggestions
After recording a clip MIDI Capture will offer two suggestions in the key drop down menu. This will be an updated key and original key.
Updated Key
The updated key will be a suggested key based on the notes that you've sang. This means that if you sing a melody with notes outside of the scale set in Dubler, the key suggestion will offer a new key that is even closer to what you performed vocally.
Original Key
The original key will match the key you have set in the Dubler 2 app.
Default to Updated Key
The Default to Updated Key button in the bottom right of the plugin will change the default key between these two options. When turned on, a clip will always default to the updated key. When turned off, a clip will always update to the original key. Both options will be available from the key drop down menu regardless of the defaulted preference.

Recording Chords
MIDI Capture can also record chords, just the same as single note melodies. In order to do this make sure that chords are turned on in the Dubler 2 app. This can be done from the play tab.
Once chords are active, the pitch wheel will show the single note being sung in coral and the additional notes from the chord in blue. The recorded clip will then contain both the single note and chord notes in one clip.
NOTE: The original key will always reflect any custom chord presets, however the updated key will only contain triads based on the relevant scale.

Recording Triggers
Triggers can be recorded in MIDI Capture just the same as pitch or chords. In order to see the triggers view in MIDI Capture click on the triggers preview icon in the top left of the plugin.
The plugin will display any trained triggers you have in Dubler 2. MIDI Capture will then record any triggers during a take, and apply a cleaning algorthim. The clip can then be dragged into your DAW as usual.
If you have triggers trained, MIDI Capture will always record both pitch and triggers by default. If you want to stop either of them from creating clips you can turn them off with the toggle switches in the play tab in Dubler 2.
